What is your role in the process?
I’m the major force behind the scenes in the "back office." My knowledge of family law and responsibilities of the day-to-day operations of a law firm equate to prompt and professional service. My ability to retrieve, organize, and manage documents allows the attorneys to focus on the matters at hand and manage each individual case with ease. I have developed the necessary skills to help draft pleadings, produce documents as required, and answer and address concerns from both clients and other attorneys. My interaction with the clients is to listen, assist, and ensure that their concerns and issues are not only addressed but also resolved.
I also spend a considerable amount of time monitoring the court docket to make certain that attorneys are always knowledgeable and prompt for court dates, court reporters are ordered when needed, and that judges have copies of the pertinent court papers for clients’ cases. Aside from that, I go to court every day and help with any other aspect of the case whenever necessary.
What can clients expect when they come here?
Nottage and Ward is about everybody working together to solve any particular problem. When something goes well in court we all talk about what worked and why; and when problem rulings occur – which they do, we sit down and talk about what can be done to challenge the ruling or how to present the matter in a way to achieve our client’s wishes.
Nottage and Ward never stops working for our clients. The divorce may take two weeks or four years, and even after that, you still may have the appeal process. Nottage and Ward is committed to the client from the beginning to the end. And years after a divorce has ended, Nottage and Ward will continue working with you to resolve any post-decree issues that may arise.
Why Nottage and Ward?
Here I learn a whole process. Family law is ever changing. My passion for politics is enforced through the debating, the arguments, and going after a cause and fixing things that are wrong. Here at Nottage and Ward you’re looking at challenging new problems every day. Each case is different in its own way. I welcome the many challenges and the opportunity to serve the clients and attorneys on a daily basis.
