What Halloween Can Tell You about Your Marriage

By Nottage and Ward on October 27, 2011

In many marriages, it takes a long time before a spouse notices the signs that something in the relationship is off. Small, everyday signs can be shrugged off as coincidence, but when the holidays come around, the signs tend to become more obvious and difficult to ignore. According to The Huffington Post, Halloween may have the power to foretell whether a couple is heading toward divorce.

Holidays are traditionally spent together, with family, and many married couples have traditions for each of the year’s holidays. Peoria Diocese Catholic Charities Withdraws from Legal Battle over Civil Union Adoptions

By Nottage and Ward on October 12, 2011

The Illinois civil union law has spurred an ongoing battle between Catholic Charities and the state over the adoptive rights of same-sex couples. Under state law, adoption services under Illinois contracts are required to allow same-sex couples to adopt, as per the rights given to them by the civil union law. Catholic Charities, however, has refused to comply with the law because it contradicts the teachings of their faith. Illinois declined to renew its adoption services contracts with Catholic Charities of Peoria, Springfield, Joliet, and Catholic Social Services of Southern Illinois in Belville when the organizations refused to provide adoption services to civil union same-sex couples, though they said that they would refer them to other agencies. This is still considered discrimination by the state and thus the cancelled contracts were upheld in court. All but the Peoria Diocese plan to appeal.

Raise Domestic Violence Awareness, Help Victims

By Nottage and Ward on October 5, 2011

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and has been for the last 24 years. Helping battered women and children find the support they need to end and overcome the abuse that they’ve suffered is the goal of the National Coalition Against Violence (NCADV).

Domestic violence, also referred to as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), is the willful physical assault, sexual assault, battery, intimidation, and/or other abusive behavior committed by an intimate partner against another. This abusive behavior can last a lifetime and results in psychological trauma, bodily injury, and even death. According to the NCADV, most domestic violence cases are never reported to law enforcement, which is why raising awareness is so important in helping battered individuals find the support they need.

Five Stars5 Leslie has been the strongest representation I could ask for

Leslie has been the strongest representation I could ask for in a very complicated, emotional matter. She has continuously looked out for my best interest and the best interest of my son. She is always prompt in getting back to me and in keeping me well informed about my case.
