Keeping the Fourth of July Affordable
Throwing a July 4 bash can get pretty pricey. Just buying all the food can put you over budget. Remember, some of the best parties are not flashy and expensive but communal, intimate, and unique. You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a wonderful and memorable holiday.
Here are a few tips to help you save money this July 4:
- Free invitations: You don’t have to buy and ship invitations. There are plenty of great online services that allow you to email unique invitations. Electronic invitations or Evites are a great way to save money and keep track of who has responded.
- Simplicity: It doesn’t take much to convert your home into a patriotic wonderland. A white paper tablecloth that the kids can draw on is a cheap and fun way to cover your tables. You can also get some American flags at the dollar store.
- Potlucks: No one really expects to go to a party without having to bring something. You can save a lot of money by coordinating with your guests on the meal. If you are in charge the food on the grill, have your guest bring drinks, deserts, salads, and breads.
- Buying in bulk: There are some items such as snacks and alcohol that should be bought in bulk. For example, you can save quite a bit of money by buying your alcohol at a warehouse club. If you don’t have a membership, go with a friend who does.
- Getting help: You don’t have to splurge on buying a table and chairs that you won’t use again. Ask your friends who have a foldable table or chairs to help out.
- Fireworks: Under Chicago law, you need a special permit to use anything other than a party popper, smoke bomb, or sparkler. Leave the big-ticket fireworks to the pros.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable July 4!

5 Leslie has been the strongest representation I could ask for
Leslie has been the strongest representation I could ask for in a very complicated, emotional matter. She has continuously looked out for my best interest and the best interest of my son. She is always prompt in getting back to me and in keeping me well informed about my case.
